Raspberry Pi

What is the Raspberry Pi?

In short, Raspberry Pi is a small Linux computer that fits in the palm of your hand.

The Raspberry Pi was developed by Raspberry Pi Foundation with the intention of promoting teaching of computer science and programming at school level.

This relatively low-cost hardware is set to inspire a new generation of young programmers.

There are already exciting communities around Raspberry Pi. There are tons of resources and project ideas available online. You can count on getting started in no time.

At the very minimum, to run a Raspberry Pi you'll need:

  • Power supply - stable power supply with micro USB connector which able to deliver at least 700mA at 5V
  • micro SD card - micro SD card with Linux OS installed
  • Display device - HDMI monitor/TV or the older composite display (with cable)
  • Input devices - USB mouse and keyboard
  • Internet connectivity - ethernet cable or Wifi dongle to connect your Pi to the network (not a must, but recommended for full experience)

The Raspberry Pi logo and name are trademarks of the Raspberry Pi Foundation. We are not in any way endorsed or associated with them, but we love the Pi :)
